Session 33 - Since When Can You F****** FLY?!

Image
Tue 29th Dec 19:45 - 23:00 In-game timeline: Uktar 13 - Uktar 13 DR1489 One of our "Heroes" is currently dangling down a deep shaft, hanging by a rope held by two of his friends, while our other "Hero" peers down into the dark to try to see what may be going on. Suddenly, out of the darkness, Alwaith hears a deep, slow voice, speaking in Draconic, seemingly surprised to be having a late breakfast delivered to him/her via a rope. At this point Alwaith surprises everyone present (including the DM) by sprouting wings and flying quickly back up the shaft back to his stunned "friends", two of whom are picking themselves up from the floor having fallen backwards when the weight on the rope had suddenly disappeared. Amidst grumblings of "That's the last fucking time I help lower you down on a rope, given that you CAN FLY!" from the two dwarves, Alwaith quickly passes on his assumption that there is a dragon down there and maybe they ought to hide. Mon 14th Dec 20:00 - 23:00 In-game timeline: Uktar 10 - Uktar 13 DR1489 Our "Heroes" are finishing off their stay in Neverwinter, where they have levelled up to L6, named their new freight company "Three's Company" and generally spent a lot of time resting, after many of them spent the last couple of weeks either unconscious, exhausted, seasick, or a mixture of all three. Dwarrow commandeers the ruby earrings and ring and asks Drogan to use his jewellery skills to fashion a nice engagement ring for his intended, Silvermoon, and then asks Alwaith to use his raven to send them to her. Finally, our "Heroes" are working as a team! Wanting to contribute to this helpful atmosphere, Devon puts out some feelers to his many and varied contacts in town and manages to find some inexpensive Bracers of Defence - something Drogan has been after for a while now, and sells them to Drogan for the miniscule sum of 40gp! Bargain! After purchasing numerous potions of heal

Session 31 - Anti-Harpy Carrots

Thu 10th Dec 20:00 - 23:45 In-game timeline: Marpenoth 28 - Uktar 10 DR1489 Our "Heroes" are winding down after an eventful 24 hours in the temple of the Clerics of Shar. Having got out of the temple, barely alive, they quickly head back to the old Temple of Tyr where they had left Braydol, the Cleric of Shar / Ilmater that they had left tied up. Having left him unattended for 24 hours, he was no longer tied up, but was still in the temple, waiting for their return, trying to sleep. The party woke him up. After much discussion, a plan was formed to escape the Isle. At first light they headed out, with Braydol, collecting the idol from the Temple of Chantea on the way. With Drogan still exhausted it was slow work, and it took them a few uneventful hours to get back to the big rock at the start of the sand dunes. The group decided to split up, with Devon and Drogan waiting by the rock and Alwaith, Dwarrowsteel and Braydol heading to the quarry to collect the ex-slaves. It prove

Session 30 - Almost As Interesting As Watching Weightlifting

Mon 30th Nov 20:00 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Marpenoth 27 - Marpenoth 28 DR1489 Our "Heroes" were in a difficult position. Many would say brought on by their own actions. Can they escape with all their lives? We shall see…. Having explored into the main temple area of the Clerics of Shar, our group, exhausted and injured, came upon what looked like a ritual in the temple. As two crystal gargoyle statues rose to attack, our "Heroes" finally decided to run away. And they ran in style. Putting as much distance between them and the evil temple as possible, Alwaith and Dwarrow made a decent escape. Devon, who was further into the room when he decided to run, and Drogan, who was so exhausted he was moving at half speed, could not get very far along the wooden platform, with Drogan being slightly behind Devon. And so the gargoyle statues, which flew pretty quickly, were able to reach and attack Drogan, doing a fair bit of damage. As Drogan was reeling from this attack from

Session 29 - Is This The End?

Mon 23rd Nov 20:00 - 23:20 In-game timeline: Marpenoth 27 - Marpenoth 27 DR1489 We left our "Heroes" resting up for a short while in the tower, after a brief, but gruelling, battle with a couple of crystal minotaurs. Drogan assured the others that he was now a reformed character and would no longer rush in before thinking, or before talking to the others. We shall see. After their rest the party cautiously open the door to the open walkway, and keep their eyes open for any movement, especially harpies who may be flying around. When they see nothing untoward, they quickly make their way to the other end of the walkway without incident and slowly open the wooden door. It leads into a small room with stone steps leading down. Opposite the door is a lifesize jade statue of a handsome elf, standing on a stone plinth with an obsidian urn, inlaid with gold, at the statue's feet. It looks very impressive, though the group have understandably become cautious of statues, what with

Feandris' Diary

I am not inclined to keep a diary. Records that can be used against one, should they be discovered. But our leader, Haletris, insisted on keeping a diary that he sent on to the Grand Temple, when he was able, to ensure they are kept informed of our work here. Now that Haletris is no longer with us, hopefully a temporary situation only, I will reluctantly continue the tradition, though, unlike Haletris, my updates will be brief, and infrequent.   Tarsakh 12 The pirates arrived today. We assumed they were coming to trade, as they usually do, but they came in force, and not to do business. Luckily Haletris’ guards in the dunes seemed to take care of most of them, but it seemed that enough got through to cause us major problems at the abbey. We fought them off, but lost many of our order, including, tragically, Haletris, who was felled by a random crossbow bolt whilst holding 10 pirates at bay by himself. Inspired by his falling, we rallied and drove the remaining pirates back. In their an

Session 28 - Fly, My Pretties, Fly!

Mon 17th Nov 19:30 - 23:00 In-game timeline: Marpenoth 26 - Marpenoth 27 DR1489 Our "Heroes" awake after a good night's rest, though Devon remains a little sluggish. They decide to head over to the other large, unexplored temple before dawn, in case it helps them get the jump on anyone else in the area. And that was indeed the case. The opposite temple was one dedicated to Tyr, God of justice, and Drogan decided to open the door slightly and push Devon inside to do some exploring. The main hall was empty, but the temple was obviously occupied, as there was a burning brazier there. As Devon struggled to find somewhere to hide and stealth around, a half-elf appeared at one of the internal doors, demanding to know who Devon was, and what he was doing creeping around their 'home'. As Devon came up with a story about being washed up on a beach, and trying to find a way off the island, the half-elf called two humans, who appeared at the opposite doors, and continued to

Session 27 - Gladiators.... READY!

Mon 9th Nov 20:00 - 23:15 In-game timeline: Marpenoth 26 - Marpenoth 26 DR1489 (but about to LR which will last until Marpenoth 27) We rejoin our "Heroes" after a luckily uneventful hour-long rest, keeping a constant eye out for avenging Harpies. With the sun getting lower in the sky, the group are keen to head on towards where they think the Abbey is located. After another hour or so of walking through the low hills, they reach what looks like the Abbey - or at least the remains of it. A number of buildings, small and large, are scattered around a main 'plaza'. Some are in a good state of repair, others are little more than a ruin. They approach the area cautiously, using some of the tall growing crops in the nearby small fields for cover, though there seems to be no activity in the area. Their cautious approach continued, with Devon sent to scout the small ruin closest to them. When he fails to appear for a while, the others decide to wander over to see what he was

Session 26 - Near-Death From above

Mon 26th Oct 19:45 - 22:45 In-game timeline: Marpenoth 26 - Marpenoth 26 DR1489 Our "Heroes" awake from a night's rest - interrupted for some, restful for others. After a hearty breakfast - they are in no hurry, after all - Drogan leads the way, following the trail left from the fleeing humanoid from the previous night. The trail led to a small clearing in the woods, where there was a camp of around 6 tents, many only makeshift ones, with two people cooking on a campfire. Devon and Drogan managed to stay out of sight, whilst Dwarrow and Alwaith approached the camp and greeted the two, one female human and one male dwarf. During the course of the conversation, Devon was spotted and had to pretend that he had got separated from the group. Drogan managed to stay hidden. Another member of the new group was also wandering in the woods and was spotted by our party, and he too joined the now 6-fold group in the campsite. The new group also mentioned that there was a fourth, who

Mon 19th Oct 19:30 - 23:00 In-game timeline: Marpenoth 18 - Marpenoth 26 DR1489 We rejoin our "Heroes" back in Neverwinter, having scared the puritanical residents of Whitewater silly with some demonstrations of magic and booming sounds of thunder in a cloudless sky. But they did manage to kill (one of) the witch(es?). So they didn't *completely* piss off the townsfolk. Which for this group, is a rare plus. A bit of shopping, and investigating the origins of the blade that Devon received seemingly by mail-order in the post, and, to the great relief of Captain Hawkeye, the naming of the ship, "Silvermoon" (though the new freight company itself is still nameless, which may hamper its ability to win contracts and make money), and the party is ready to set off on the high seas again towards Abbey Isle. Another week at sea produced another storm - a bad one this time - but most of the group are now comfortable at sea. Except Devon, who once again spent half of the jo
