Gwen's Journal

Journal of Gwen, aspiring wizard
Much of this journal goes into quite boring detail on where they travel, what they have to eat, minor encounters they have with wildlife etc. She focuses a lot on her own magics, emphasizing when she manages to successfully cast a useful spell, which doesn’t seem to be very often.
Of more interest is the final entry....

Approaching Midsummer’s Day
We’ve stopped overnight at yet another camp by a wood. Boris brought along some of that excellent Goblin Brew ale that he purchased (at great expense!) from the inn in Oakhurst. Boris even charged us to drink some of it, the tight bastard, but it was worth it – lovely stuff!
I think Woderick had a little too much of it, though – he was convinced the bushes nearby were moving. We had great fun at his expense, winding him up and pretending to be bushes out to kill him! Come to think of it, maybe we’ve all had a bit too much beer.
We head out tomorrow in search of this magic sword, Dragonsboon, which is supposed to be in the nearby fortress. I bet it’s not even there. Just because Karakas got hold of a key, and associated legend, he is now obsessed with finding this sword. Still, it’s his turn to pick the quest, so we go along with it.
Looking forward to dinner. It’s Woderick’s turn to cook, unfortunately, and barbequed rat is on the menu again – euch! But we did buy what looks like a really nice albino pear from a passing band of kobolds, so pear crumble for pudding! We paid an exorbitant sum for a bloody fruit, but they tried so hard to sell it – waffling on about it having magic healing powers and such. We didn’t believe a word they said, but they looked so desperate and needy that we felt sorry for them. If it has enough powers to take away the taste of barbequed rat, it’ll be good enough for me. Shame Karakas hates pears – he’ll be tasting rat for hours!
