Session 55 - Who's Laughing Now?

Image
Wed 22nd Dec 2021 20:00 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Nightal 20 - Nightal 21 DR1489 Our "Heroes" are tending their wounds outside a hyena (and gnoll?) cave after facing, and defeating some hooked-limbed creatures that had emerged from the cave entrance and attacked them. As all except Drogan head to the outcrop opposite the cave entrance to try to see if anything else will emerge from the cavern, whilst the barbarian dwarf remains above the entrance, behind a pile of dead hooked creatures. Drogan drops a flask of lamp oil onto the floor by the cave and light is, allowing the others to see a little further, and a little better, into the cave. Alwaith spots some movement behind the flickering light, in the cave itself. As Drogan peers over the dead bodies to see what is happening at the cave entrance, he is surprised to see three arrows thud into the dead bodies around him, and a fourth arrow impales into his armour-less body. They seemed to come from above. As Drogan clambers d

Session 54 - Another Horse Bites the Dust

Wed 8th Dec 2021 20:00 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Nightal 20 - Nightal 20 DR1489 Our "Heroes" decide to cut a hooked arm off of the strange creature that lies dead on the plains. Why? Nobody really knows. Devon spots what appears to be a lone gnoll atop a giant hyena in the far distance and guesses that it is the one that ran off early in the last battle. He tasks Nige with keeping an eye on the distant gnoll as the group decides to have a short rest to recover some abilities and health. By the time they have finished resting, the gnoll rider seems to have disappeared. After their rest, the sun is starting to set on the horizon. They figure that they should be able to get to the distant low hills, where the gnoll seems to have headed for and where the tracks seem to lead, before sunset, so long as they keep a decent pace on their horses.  As they get closer to the hills, they decide to play a little safe and head south, away from the tracks, for about a mile or so, then close

Session 53 - Hyenas. No Laughing Matter

Image
Wed 1st Dec 2021 20:00 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Nightal 19 - Nightal 20 DR1489 Our "Heroes" are having an early pint in the tavern, discussion their plans for the day - which at present comprises heading out to the Hecana Plains to tackle the Mayor's concern over the hyena threat - but as we know by now, this is a fickle group and their plans regularly change. As they neck their beers, a black cat sidles up to the group and seems to be after food. Drogan suddenly becomes all soft and has a conversation with the cat who, it turns out, is called Felix, Lord of All Things and Destroyer of Rodents. The cat is hungry, and has no information to offer the group. Drogan adopts it. The group get their horses from the stables and enquire after the location of one of the furthest farms in the direction of the Hecana Plains, assuming that they are probably most likely to have knowledge or experience of the hyena raids. Having got directions to the outlying farm of Rudon Hazelaxe, th

Session 52 - The Verdict

Wed 17th Nov 2021 20:00 - 23:00 In-game timeline: Nightal 17 - Nightal 19 DR1489 Our "Heroes" are considering the evidence for and against Celium and Lamellae in the murder of Legion. They decide to bring in the two suspects, and Milo and Philo, who were "guarding" the entrance at the time of the murder, into Legion's place and see how Pootle reacts to each one. Dwarrow watches Pootle's reaction on each entrance, and reports that Pootle seems more settled when Lamellae comes in, is pretty unreactive to Milo and Philo's entrance, and seems to react slightly more nervously towards Celium. This seems to solidify Dwarrow's resolve against Celium and confirms his guilt in the dwarf's mind. What followed was a number of hours' discussion between the "jury". They seem to uncover no new evidence, but use the information they already have to argue amongst themselves the cases for Lamellae and Celium, and even for a third party's involvem

Session 51 - Drogan Gets The Munchies

Wed 10th Nov 2021 20:00 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Nightal 17 - Nightal 17 DR1489 Our "Heroes" head along the river for a while, eventually getting within sight of a small clearing, before a stone archway seeming to lead to another cavern beyond. Alwaith spots a couple of tall mushrooms standing before the archway. Surprisingly, for mushrooms, they seem to be smoking and eating. The party approach the mushrooms, who appear to be standing in a 'fairy circle' of small, green mushrooms, and are swaying slightly. Dwarrow and Devon hang back a bit, while Drogan and Alwaith walk up and greet the mushrooms. The two myconids, who they later find out are named Milo and Philo, are tall, though still medium sized, and are heavily stoned. They, using their telepathic, spore-based conversation, greet the party happily, and offer Alwaith a drag on whatever they are smoking, and a munch on a small, brown cake that they seem to be nibbling on. Alwaith partakes a little, before passing

Session 50 - You Don't Know Who You're F*****g With!

Wed 3rd Nov 20:15 - 23:45 In-game timeline: Nightal 17 - Nightal 17 DR1489 Our "Heroes" finish a short rest after a brief, but damaging, battle with a patch of moss. They spend a while looking around and spot some tracks heading northeast, as well as some older tracks heading northwest across the subterranean river. They decide to follow the freshest tracks across the water. After some walking and scouting through some tunnels and caverns, with the density of spores getting less and less making it a little easier to breathe and to see, they spot light coming from a fire up ahead. Devon scouts and sees a campsite, with a camp fire and a number of tents. There are some creatures looking a little like live versions of the body they found, and burnt, earlier, all seemingly busy around the camp. As Devon tries to get closer to get a better view, he seems to be spotted, so he calls the others over to join him. The group put away their weapons and approach the camp. A voice, in brok

Session 49 - Wipe 'Em Out! Normal Service Is Resumed

Wed 27th Oct 19:45 - 23:15 In-game timeline: Nightal 16 - Nightal 17 DR1489 Our "Heroes" arrive at a vast underground cavern at the end of a relatively recent mineshaft that had been closed up. The cavern is wider and taller than the eyes can see, and is filled with a great variety of mushrooms - some giving out luminescent light which enables the whole party to see, though the slight fog of spores or similar is a little restrictive to seeing any great distance. The party follow a relatively obvious path ahead of them, heading towards the growing sound of running water, trying to avoid destroying any fungi in their path as they go. When they reach a flowing river, they decide to stop and camp for the evening. While resting, a couple of our "heroes" think they spot some movement from the bank on the other side of the river, and while Devon is on watch he sends Nige a-scouting, and the owl comes back reporting only the mysterious word "legs". After a relativ

Session 48 - Let's Not Kill The Giants. Wait, What?!

Image
Wed 20th Oct 20:00 - 23:00 In-game timeline: Nightal 15 - Nightal 16 DR1489 Our "Heroes" return to Mistloch Town after their eventful and informative visit to The Haunt. They decide not to tell the townsfolk about the presence of Gisten and Kai on the Mistloch, but do mention that The Haunt is indeed haunted and that the fisherfolk should avoid the island unless in dire need. Drogan heads to Bronlen at the general store where she bandages his wounds and tends his cuts. He encounters Graine, a male dwarf, who is also getting some cuts and bruises tended. It turns out that Graine led a small group of townsfolk to the Mistloch Mine earlier that day in order to confront the giants who recently moved in there, and tell them to leave - thinking that the giants are the cause of the issue with the rising waters. After threatening the giants, it seems Graine was rewarded with a heavy cuff round the head and sent on his way. Our "Heroes" decide to head to the mine, to see if

Session 47 - Let's Just Go For A Little Swim

Wed 13th Oct 19:45 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Nightal 13 - Nightal 15 DR1489 Our "Heroes" are reunited when Dwarrow returns from a night with his betrothed, and revealed that he spent at least some of the night discussing some of the problems around town that they may be able to help with. He seems less worn out after a night with his fiancée than Alwaith, who came down to breakfast somewhat tired after a night of bad dreams. The group are keen to help out and decide to start by looking into the issues that Mistloch has been having with the rising waters. They visit 'Stilts' at the General Store in Settlestone to see what he knows about the supply issues from the nearby town. Stilts is a friendly dwarf and his shop seems pretty well stocked, except for an increasing lack of fresh vegetables. He explains a little about the issues that are happening at Mistloch - rising waters destroying homes and crops and reducing the ability for the fishing fleet to work efficiently.

Session 46 - It Seemed Like A Good Joke At The Time

Image
Tue 5th Oct 20:00 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Nightal 10 - Nightal 13 DR1489 With the Players having been away from this campaign for six months, our "Heroes" were having a slightly difficult time remembering what they had done, and why there were here. They also discovered a large sack labelled "Party Loot" that had gone unnoticed for a while and decided to hand around the various scrolls, potions and items that had been acquired in times past and languished long-forgotten. Some items were well-past their printed Best Before dates, but they handed them out anyway. The group also did a bit of shopping, stocking up on essential items - primarily healing potions - and some warm weather gear, as they had a suspicion they would be soon heading for colder climes. Alwaith and Dogan caught up with Ahvain, the high-elvish member of the Council of the Veil they had been in contact with before, and brought him up to date on what they had found out while in Moonfall. Ahvain was

Session 45 - Burn, Baby, Burn... Literally.

Tue 6th Apr 19:30 - 00:45 In-game timeline: Uktar 23 - Nightal 10 DR1489 Our "Heroes" regather - both physically and mentally. Redback the werewolf, now transmogrified into a large, rather buff, human male, lies dead at their feet, but Lispeth the somewhat rat-like gnome 'girl' has escaped through one of the pictures. Surprisingly, the group delay at least 5 minutes before looting Redback's body. Primarily because Devon and Grarth are both racing to one of the rooms in order to grab loot (or, as they would claim, find useful items for the group's benefit). Over the next 20 minutes or so, the group find all sorts of useful items in the two bedrooms that obviously belong to Lispeth and Redback, as well as a set of keys on Redback. They spend some time working out how the portal bracelets work with the pictures. As they are about to try them out, Drogan, who was getting a little bored at the constant 'looking for stuff' rather than 'killing stuff'

Session 44 - Drogan Rushes In. No Change There Then!

Mon 29th Mar 19:30 - 23:30 In-game timeline: Uktar 23 - Uktar 23 DR1489 Our "Heroes" survey the scene of more dead lycanthropes lying at their feet. Alwaith searches the bodies, wanting to get in before Devon and Grarth realise they hadn't been searched yet. The dead werewolf, now shown to be a human female, has a tear-stained face which receives absolutely no sympathy at all from our honourable adventurers. They search the nearby room, finding the body of Jacob, the werebear, lying on a bed, next to an empty bottle of a greater healing potion. Luckily they also find a full bottle of a greater healing potion, as well as two standard healing potions, in a drawer. Given their current state of health, and lack of healing, these are welcome additions to the party inventory and are shared around. The group cautiously check out the remainder of this level of the ruins, finding two more rooms, empty of creatures, though one of them contains the dead bodies of the werewolves they
